Pixelh8 2008 Summary and 2009 stuff!!!

Thinking about it, I can't really summarise 2008, for me it went so quickly I didn't feel like my feet touched the ground, it's not a complaint, it was just so, hmmmm surreal. If you bumped into me I was probably on the way to or coming from doing something.

It was a good year, released GBA Pro Performer on the GBA/DS, played at Assembly 2008 in Finland, Game In The City, Holland and at Maida Vale Studios for the BBC, was on BBC News and even in my local paper (tehehe) Met loads and loads of amazing musicians and a few popstars :) There was loads of other things just too many to list. But probably the highlights for me was to meet the amazing Zoe Keating and see her perform and for myself to perform at Maida Vale Studios :)

All I know is that 2009 will be three times if not more of everything. Several huge projects which have taken ages to prepare will soon be released and these are only the ones I can talk about.

New software for the DS and DSi called "Pixelh8 Music Tech Masterstroke" very very very soon :) amazing crazy sounds for all!!!
New album sometime late spring, Pixelh8 "And The Revolution" which I am very pleased with how it is taking shape.
Research at the National Museum of Computing, Bletcthley Park, Milton Keynes will reveal some interesting things.
A suggestion from a very wonderful and concerned six year old boy, was to make and perform my "electronic" music out of solar / ecologically friendly means.
Loads more gigs and musical adventures, remixes, guest appearences on other peoples music.
Loads more lectures and projects to get people more involved in taking things apart and making music.

This is the big news I wanted to tell you!!!

"On December 10th, 2008 Pixelh8 was asked to perform at the BBC Maida Vale Studios one of the most prestigious studios in the world, acts like Radiohead, Nirvana and The Beatles have all recorded there and now Pixelh8 has too.

The live session will be aired on December 18th, 2008 between 00:00-02:00 UK time as part of BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens Introducing Show, and you will be able to listen again online, at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/huwstephens/ after the show has finished.

The session will also be available as a podcast for download. The links to all of the podcasts and listen again will appear at www.pixelh8.co.uk on December 18th, 2008 and will be there for seven days. News For December / November Summary

It has been quite quiet for me publicly in November if you consider two festivals in two different countries a quiet month. I have also started as a mentor at the British Academy Of New Music in London, A patron at the Access To Music Centre in Norwich, and have started conducting research at The National Museum of Computing, at the code breaking centre Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes. I have also been working hard behind the scenes on some big projects and that has required alot of my time and all is well.

There will be a big announcement around the 15-17th December, which I am bursting to tell you, but you will know then if all goes well :) Just keep December 17th free in your diary wherever you are in the world :)

Nov 7th I headed off to lovely Holland for Game In The City Festival, which was great and met loads of really talented videogame music composers and software developers, had a really good time and ate lots of Knoppers :)

News for November

I have been extremely busy with some very big announcements and projects being revealed shortly that I am bursting to tell you all about! If you haven't visited my new blog/website check it out at http://www.pixelh8.co.uk it has all my day to day crazy activities.

I thought I would do the November mailout now so you could find out about these gigs. I will be performing in the Netherlands on the 7th of November at Game In The City Computer/Video Game Festival in Amersfoort, headlining on their chip tune music night! Along with Commodore 64 legend Jeroen Tel! and rocking out in Wales as part of the SWN festival in a lovely little venue called Dirty Sue's in Cardiff on the 15th of November :)

Firstly Hello to the first ever proper Pixelh8 mailing list doo dah, Pixelh8 News No.1

Despite my knowledge of computers things like mailing lists remained a mystery to me until now. I will probably be sending out a mailing list message every month and no more than that unless something super crazy cool happens and I have just got to tell everyone.

Ok on with the news

"And The Revolution" my third album is underway, very excited already, I have had some positive feedback from my peers regarding some of the tracks which is always good. This album is going to feature a number of "human" guests as well as probably some incredibly rare computers. I have no Idea of a releases dates and I don't want to rush anything because I have a lot to do and I want to do it right.

www.pixelh8.co.uk as some of you may already know I have a new website it features up to date info on gigs and has a blog which I have just figured out how to use. I am slowly putting parts of my diary on their so things from way back will slowly appear on there as well. You can subscribe directly to the RSS feed and it will alert you of updates. This website will take over from the one at www.hidenyouthrecords.co.uk in time.

The "Pixelh8 Pro Performer GBA/DS" cartridge is doing really well some interesting people have got copies like Damon Albarn of Gorillaz and Imogen Heap, so it will be interesting to see what they make of it. As well as lots of good stories coming in about it, a lot of people have started playing live for the first time with it, some are using it at school to learn music and music theory, and loads of new music is being made with it, if you have stories send them in, it's all really fantastic. Music Tech V2.0 on GB is sold out, I am waiting on parts for these to come in, it is also very hard work to hand make cartridges like I do so even after I get the parts it will be a while after that. Be patient, I will however send a mail out to this list when they are ready to rock.

Also a new youtube.com page www.youtube.com/pixelh8 is the new page my videos used to be hosted my Hidden Youth Records youtube but this will make it much more easy to manage and will only be Pixelh8 related stuff. So subscribe to that too.
